Character name: Taiga Aisaka
Age: 17
Canon: Toradora!
Canonpoint: After episode 14
Background: For the series! For Taiga!
Personality: Taiga always seems to be in a bad mood. She's got a very quick temper and isn't afraid to assert herself, even if she's facing insane odds against her. She wouldn't be afraid to cuss out a gang of delinquents, for instance. To face her rage requires a very stupid person; she earned the nickname Palmtop Tiger in her high school because of this. Quite literally, the halls would clear when Taiga walked through them. Even with people that she considers decent, she can be brash and at times violent. A snide remark about how you’re ogling at a girl? That’s the least of your worries around Taiga. Try peppermint chapstick going up your nose, or a kick to the nuts; no one is safe from her violence.
However, her harshness is a facade she keeps up in order to avoid getting hurt; she's one of those tsundere types. Underneath, Taiga is a very sensitive person, and has a very emotionally rich life. She's insecure about her small stature (both height and chest-wise), and tends to jump to conclusions that someone hates her, even without much concrete evidence. In fact, hearing that Kitamura hated her (which was far from the truth) was enough to send her into an emotional breakdown. She's not one to tell others how she feels though, preferring to sacrifice her own happiness for the sake of her friends. Loneliness is an overlying theme to her life. It’s all too clear to her that her family cast her out, and so in order to keep up her image she accepts that she’ll forever be lonely. Her own happiness isn’t important because it seems so unreachable. She’d much rather see to it that her friends gain a happy ending, while she rejects others to avoid the seemingly inevitable rejection she gets herself. Taiga acts fairly cheerful around her friends, only hinting about the truth underneath.
She's also got some issues with family, especially parents. Her parents were divorced, and she felt like she was only annoying her mom’s new family, and she couldn’t stand her father’s new wife. She was upset enough that she demanded to live on her own, and got her wish, getting an allowance from her father every month. Because of all this though, she doesn't really know how to function in a "normal" family, and only acts out further. Not only that, but she has no idea how to do typical house duties. If left alone, she'll let the dishes rot in the sink, toss her clothes everywhere, and pay no notice to any mold that may be growing.
In a lighter mood, Taiga is a klutz. She tried baking cookies once, and not only almost dropped the entire batch on the floor before they were done, but tried to deliver them to her crush, fell down the stairs, and the cookies flew out the window, crashing to the ground. It turns out that she had added a ridiculous amount of salt to them as well. Her attempts at confessing to her crush (Kitamura) backfired, as she was doing a better job at telling him that she liked Ryuuji, and so he denied her. The poor girl is also easily embarrassed, and turns into a blabbering mess very quickly. This frustrates her to no end, and only serves to make her act even more ridiculous.
Overall, Taiga’s an adorable little tsundere. Emphasis on the little.
Wish: "I... I want to be able to protect myself... So Ryuuji and Minorin don't have to worry about me, and they can be happy. Together."
A selfless wish for the sake of her closest friends. In her mind, her own happiness is something that was unattainable, even with a wish that can grant anything. Taiga has spent her whole life with this mindset, and it isn't about to change. Even after the culture festival and having to face her father letting her down yet again, Taiga is focused on the happiness of those she cares for. They deserve it more than her, but she knows that both Ryuuji and Minori wouldn't be able to consider their own happiness if they continued to feel like Taiga was a delicate doll that needed protection from harm and bad feelings. They couldn't further their relationship with her in the way.
Which is why the wish will be granted in the form of dreams! Every so often, Taiga will have vivid dreams about what happened after she left for Nyoi-cho. Ryuuji and Minori become a happy couple, and are on track to graduate high school together. Their lives seem stress free, and it will be clear that they will both find careers that suit them and allow them to live a modest, but comfortable life. Even more, neither of them miss Taiga, and if anything, things appear to be a lot better for them both without her in their lives.
Passive ability: I Can Do It Myself: When Taiga feels like she is being a burden on someone else, whether it be emotionally relying on someone or struggling in a Nightmare and needing the assistance of another Magi, she will get a slight (roughly 25%) buff to her attack strength.
Active ability: Energy Burst: Taiga will be able to create an additional burst of energy with her sword attacks, so she can enhance her natural strength and protect herself better. This extends her range slightly (about a foot to start off), as she wouldn't need to make direct contact with her sword to cause harm. It's strength allows her to take down basic familiars in one or two blows. This burst could eventually be upgraded to extend the range, make it more powerful, or turn it into a projectile.
Weapon: A wooden bokken
